My name is Hanson Ho from Vancouver, Canada via Hong Kong, and I use he/him pronouns. If you’re here, you probably know me. If you don’t, why are you reading the About page of the blog of a rando?
Let me guess. You’re either in or interested in software (perhaps Android, observability, or performance), or support Watford FC? Perhaps you are also part of the Hong Kong diaspora who enjoy pedantic takes from a 1.5-gen immigrant about race, culture, and everything adjacent?
Or maybe you like takes with a bit of nuance, but at the same time hate both-siders that make contrarian arguments in bad faith, false-equivalencing their way into the hearts and minds of unserious people who want their biases confirmed? Or just long sentences that are grammatically correct in a technical sense.
You could have also found your way here because of sports (analytics) in general, the Canucks, curling, or baseball perhaps. Do you also hate how both the pro and anti analytics people miss the point of it being a useful tool but also has a tonne of limitations?
Or pop music? Despite many of my old favourites being super popular now, you won’t find many who are more into the late-90s/early-’00s American indie-slash-C86 aesthetic than me. Bonus points for being women-fronted.
Anyway, welcome. Find out more about me via the links to my social profiles at top of this page. If you keep reading this thing, I will talk about all of the above – and more – often in relation to each other because of how my brain works.
